Economical Savings are Easy to Obtain

Commercial window film often referred to as commercial window tinting is one of the simplest, cost effective and economical ways of reducing energy cost. It also increases comfort, protects interiors and helps protect people from harmful UV rays.

There is a film for almost every type of glazing system, clear, low-e and many others. We have films to create any look you desire from highly reflective films to films that are clear.

Did you know that energy cost represents 30% of a typical buildings annual budget and is the single largest operating cost? Many projects recover the cost of the window film in less than 3 years!

As if saving money and protecting the occupants of your building were not enough of an incentive to apply commercial window film to your building it can also qualify for up to 9 points toward LEED certification.

Do Your Homework

When you make the decision to replace your windows make sure to do your homework. What I mean by “do your homework” is to research the products and companies that represent the windows you are interested in. All products and companies that sell and install windows are not equal. What type of window are you looking for? Vinyl, wood or fiberglass are all good choices and the one you pick depends on your needs and budget. Are you only interested in the utility of the window? Then vinyl will serve your needs. Are you interested in having a high end beautiful wood clad window that will enhance the beauty of your home? Perhaps you are looking for the most indestructible window on the market if so then fiberglass maybe for you. Within the product categories that I have listed there are many choices with a multitude of  options that you will need to consider.

Probably of even more importance than the window you chose is the company you pick to help you select your windows and then install your selection. Look for a company that offers you the window categories listed above, seek a company that has been around for a while. When you pick the company to work with make sure they consult with you on the project and are not just selling you. A consultant will look for the best product and options for you. Someone selling is pushing the product that is best for them or the only product they carry. Like the old saying “If the only tool you have in your bag is a hammer then everything looks like a nail.” The company that you put your faith in will work with you from the beginning until the end of the project to answer all the questions that are bound to arise during the installation. We have been doing replacement window projects both large and small long enough to know that no two jobs are the same. All projects offer unique challenges and our experience allows us to know what to do to solve any issues that may arise. Obviously there is no way to cover everything you need to know when choosing the company to handle your window needs in a blog. Hopefully we have given you enough information to contact us to start a conversation on what we can do for you.

“Quakesmart”

I had the privilege of attending an earthquake preparedness seminar today at the University of Memphis. I learned many things about earthquakes and their causes my biggest take away was this. On top of all the destruction a major earthquake would create is the unbelievable amount of business interruption that such an event will produce. Some numbers that were given to today are  staggering for what we will experience when a major seismic event occurs. These statistics  show the effect on small and mid size businesses. Immediate effect after a major earthquake 40% of small businesses  won’t reopen, one year later 25% more small businesses will close and after 3 years 75% of businesses without a business continuity plan will fail. The average daily loss of a small business that closes due to disaster $3,000.00 medium sized business $23,000.00. Why is this important you may ask well consider these numbers small businesses account for 99% of all companies and employ 50% of all private sector employees. There are steps that can be taken to protect employees and property as well as equipment and inventory to help business continue. I will not even attempt to cover what you could do for your business contingency plan. But there are groups you can join that will help you with this process one of these is the Association of Contingency Planners. Also, October 20th is “Shakeout Day”  that can be of help follow the link below to learn more. I will tell you that there are many disasters that can befall your business earthquakes, wind events and man-made events to name some. In all these events one of the major sources of injuries and damage is flying glass. This is something we can help you with and we look forward to the opportunity of meeting with you and discussing the best option for your company to protect people and property by making your glass safer.

Yes that is the question, why not apply a product to glass that can cut the solar heat gain that pours through glass by upwards of 70%, UV rays by 99.9% and reduces glare by 80%? This product typically has an ROI of 3 years or less. So again I ask the question why not window film on the glass in your building? Of course the why not is the upfront cost. But consider that not only is the ROI attractive even after the payback period it keeps saving money for many years to come. Window film also makes your current tenants more comfortable helping to keep them in your building and the comfort provided can also help attract new tenants to fill empty office space. Yes new tenants, when a potential tenant walks into a space and they are not overwhelmed by excessive heat or light they do notice the comfort. Window film can also make the exterior of your building more attractive giving your building a uniform and modern look. Some other benefits that are rarely mentioned but should be listed are less wear and tear on the H VAC, film keeps your interior from excessive fading, several films can save on heat loss during the winter months and window film is a LEED product. With many choices of products that vary in color and light transmission we can find the one that will works best for your needs. So why are you waiting? Contact us today and let’s talk about the particulars of your window film project.
